In an attempt to recognize the outstanding faculty and staff members in KUST, HR hosted a special dinner in Titanic Hotel on February 9, 2017 to honor their hard work and initiatives and celebrate their achievements.
HR started the celebration with a warm welcome speech on behalf of KUST. This was followed by a speech delivered by Dr. Salah Aziz, President of KUST. In his speech, the President talked about the policy of appreciation adapted by the university and he also thanked all the members for their sincere efforts to enhance the educational standards at KUST. Afterwards, Ms. Sazan Ahmad, Director of HR, mentioned the faculty and staff members who has been rewarded and promoted for the academic year 2015-2016. Both, the faculty representative, Mr. Sardasht Sardar and staff representative, Ms. Shania Khabat gave support speeches to acknowledge the sustained and dedicated efforts of our University’s greatest resource- faculty and staff members- and encourage them to proceed in their progress, commitment and work as one family . The celebration involved some other significant activities such as and serving special dinner.
On February 11, 2017, HR conducted four-hour orientation session for faculty members who have recently joined KUST for Spring 2017. This session was held at KUST Campus as an initial process to provide easy access to basic information, programs, and services for the new employees. It is also considered as an official introduction to familiarize new employees with KUST System so as to have an effective role in the teaching process. With the coordination of Acting Vice President Student Affairs Dr. Ala Talabani, IT Director Mr. Hemin Ibrahim , Director of Quality Assurance Mr. Twana Tahir and head of Exam committee Dr. Hewa Sidiq .
As part of the KUST Staff Development Program, HR Manager Ms Sazan Ahmad organized for an intensive English-language course to be given to KUST staff. The course syllabus focused on writing skills required to generate effective letters, memos, meeting agendas, meeting minutes and technical reports. It also helped KUST staff members improve their sense of netiquette in communication. The course was given by the coordinator of the English Department, Ms. Kizhan Salar, who was supervised by her department chair Dr. Muayad Jajo.
HR also arranged for the course completion ceremony, held Thursday 26, 2017 in KUST to award the course participants with certificates of achievement and appreciate Certificate to Ms. Kizhan Salar.
On January 11th & 12th Mr . Hemin Salih (Director of Accounting) conducted Time Management training for all Admin staff members. The objective of the training was to help staff members to manage their time in a proficient way during their professional and social life. HR is currently facilitating these activities to accomplish KUSTs’ mission so as to serve KUST community more. The training course was intensive, conducted within two days and it contained both theoretical and practical components to insure it meets the needs of all the participants.
On December 14th and 15th ,2016 , the Human Resource Office of Komar University of Science and Technology with cooperation of Rwanaga Foundation arranged two days training workshop for Senior Students. This is one of KUST’s goals to prepare all senior students for professional skills in order to enble them to apply these skills in their future careers. The training was aimed to teach the students how to write a successful CV, register on FORAS website as well as providing them with interview skills and work ethics.
On December 1st, 2016 HR organized a seminar on Email Etiquette at work , it was conducted by (Sazan Ahmad Director of HR ) the objective of the seminar was to help KUST employee to use email as a recourse of communication skill in their daily work and train them in all aspects of email etiquette to learn how to be professional, avoid personal emails , common mistakes in email and respond in a timely manner.
Komar University of Science and Technology welcomed more than 50 of the ‘’innovation for development’’ participants which is a program that is organized by UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) in order to develop the youth in Kurdistan and Iraq.
The participants visited KUST on Sunday (November 20, 2016), where they were taken on a detailed tour in the campus as well as giving about admission and KUST’s information by ( Ms. Shania Khabat and Mr. Dosty Jamal) and a presentation by the director of HR (Ms. Sazan Ahmad) in order to answer all the questions they had in mind so that the participants can implement the ideas on their own project and benefit from the experiences of KUST.
Aiming at KUST staff development, HR organized a workshop on communication skills on October 24th, 2016. The 5-hour workshop was conducted by (Trainer Soran Shawkat Baban). All KUST staff members participated. The objective of the workshop was to provide KUST community with the professional communication skills they need at the workplace and in their daily lives.
